Increasingly, Identity theft is a major problem for businesses, private and government organizations. Organizations are always looking for various methods to identify fake certificates and documents. The main problem occurs in banking and educational institutions. When a customer wants to create a bank account, Nowadays it is possible to create a bank account without visiting the bank. Every personal details and proof of address is uploaded to the system using third-party applications. Once the account is created using the information provided, the bank then needs to verify the documents submitted by the customer is genuine or not. In order to verify the documents, the bank then uses any third parties to verify the documents submitted are original or not and this is done by manually collecting the information from the customers through phone calls. Most of the cases this method is not reliable. Certain documents contain barcode and holograms to avoid duplicating and to create fake documents but both these methods are not authentic anymore.

Use of Blockchain in Document verification

Blockchain is an efficient technology on the Internet and the technology can be used for verifying the documents issued by various organizations. Blockchain Document verification process is an emerging technology or method that can be implemented to identify altered or duplicate certificates. In order to implement this technology the organization need to create a hash code for their documents, the hash codes are then transferred and stored in the blockchain network. It is not possible to store the entire documents into the network, rather it stores the hash codes of the documents. When an employer or an organization need to check the authenticity of the document received, they can authenticate the certificate by hashing the content to the Blockchain network. If the received document is original the hash code matches and if found any alteration on the document submitted the hash codes won’t match. The blockchain network is highly secure and cannot be altered or hacked. Hence the security of the data will not be compromised. This is how Blockchain Document verification is done and in order to do so, the documents hash code need to be uploaded to the Blockchain network and can be used to verify any type of document.
